  • 1 pound ground beef, chicken, or turkey
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets, thawed)
  • Optional: ½ cup grated cheese
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions with a pinch of salt and cook until golden brown.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground sausage with caramelized onions, thyme, salt, and pepper (add cheese and mustard if desired).
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Roll out puff pastry and cut into rectangles. Place filling on each rectangle, fold over, seal edges with a fork, and brush tops with beaten egg.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
