Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (for filling)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. Stir in sugar, egg, egg yolk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually add flour and salt until the dough is soft and slightly sticky. Add blue food coloring as desired.
  2. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 1 to 1½ hours).
  3. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, crushed cookies, and chocolate chips in a small bowl.
  4. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (14×9 inches), spread the filling evenly over it, then roll tightly from one long side to form a log. Slice into 12 rolls.
  5. Place rolls in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise again for about 30 to 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. For the icing, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth; gradually mix in powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and enough milk to achieve desired consistency.
  7. Drizzle icing over warm rolls and sprinkle with crushed cookies before serving.
